The annual Mediascope survey confirms that the Internet is fast becoming a “lifestyle” thing. By that I mean it is being incorporated into everyday living for many people; as normal as watching TV, reading a newspaper or driving to work. No longer is the Internet seen as something “new fangled”. The survey actually shows that social networking, Internet telephony and online forums are the drivers behind the growth in broadband uptake. What this means is that people now view the Internet as a means of keeping in touch with people, rather than just an information resources. For businesses, this holds out tremendous opportunities. Firstly, precious few web sites have exploited the interconnectivity that users are craving. Secondly, its relatively simple and low cost to achieve.
